Uterine fibroids affect up to 40% of reproductive-age women. While many women may have no symptoms, others suffer with heavy menstrual bleeding, anemia, dysmenorrhea, pelvic pain and pressure, reduced quality of life, and reduced fertility. This is particularly true for Black women who are disproportionately affected. Communication is often lacking between women and their ob-gyns and PCPs regarding appropriate patient-centered treatments for their uterine fibroids. Join us as we explore keys to the early diagnosis of uterine fibroids and unravel the shared decision-making process that leads to maximizing patient outcomes.
