Title: The Crossing Author: Sophie Matterson Narrator: Sonya Kerr Format: Unabridged Audiobook Length: 8 hours 47 minutes Release date: May 2, 2023 Ratings: Ratings of Book: 5 of Total 1 Genres: Memoirs Publisher's Summary: An inspirational an amazing memoir about a woman who gave up everything she knew to start her own camel saddlery and do a camel trek across the Australian Outback. In April 2020, as the world began to lock down due to Covid-19, Sophie began her own form of extreme social distancing. From April 2020 - December 2021 she walked with her five camels from the most westerly point of Australia to the most easterly, with a six-month break in Coober Pedy when the conditions grew too hot to continue. Along the way she met hundreds of kind strangers - she required permission to cross every single piece of land, and often they'd make the effort to meet her with additional supplies to support her journey. The red dirt of the outback seeped into her pores and her appreciation for the beauty of Country and the ways we can observe and better understand its subtle changes only grew as she walked. She sometimes went weeks at a time without seeing a soul due to the movement restrictions in place for Covid-19 prevention in Central Australia. Halfway through the trek, she fell in love with a baker called Jimmy in the Flinders Ranges: some of their first dates involved him driving her to drop-off points, and delivering food and supplies every four or so weeks. Jimmy walked the final section of the journey with her, marshalling traffic to allow Sophie and the camels to cross roads and highways as they drew closer to the coast.

Title: Meat Eater: Adventures from the Life of an American Hunter Author: Steven Rinella Narrator: Steven Rinella Format: Unabridged Audiobook Length: 7 hours 1 minute Release date: April 25, 2023 Ratings: Ratings of Book: 4.67 of Total 15 Ratings of Narrator: 5 of Total 4 Genres: Memoirs Publisher's Summary: From the #1 New York Times bestselling author and host of Netflix’s MeatEater comes “a unique and valuable alternate view of where our food comes from” (Anthony Bourdain). “Revelatory . . . With every chapter, you get a history lesson, a hunting lesson, a nature lesson, and a cooking lesson. . . . Meat Eater offers an overabundance to savor.”—The New York Times Book Review Meat Eater chronicles Steven Rinella’s lifelong relationship with nature and hunting through the lens of ten hunts, beginning when he was an aspiring mountain man at age ten and ending as a thirty-seven-year-old Brooklyn father who hunts in the remotest corners of North America. He tells of having a struggling career as a fur trapper just as fur prices were falling; of a dalliance with catch-and-release steelhead fishing; of canoeing in the Missouri Breaks in search of mule deer just as the Missouri River was freezing up one November; and of hunting the elusive Dall sheep in the glaciated mountains of Alaska.   A thrilling storyteller, Rinella grapples with themes such as the role of the hunter in shaping America, the vanishing frontier, the ethics of killing, and the disappearance of the hunter himself as consumers lose their connection with the way their food finds its way to their tables. The result is a loving portrait of a way of life that is part of who we are—as humans and as Americans.

  • [Russian] - Жизнь — сапожок непарный. Книга первая by тамара петкевич
Please visit https://thebookvoice.com/podcasts/1/audiobook/682985 to listen full audiobooks.

  • Try Not to Be Strange: The Curious History of the Kingdom of Redonda by Michael Hingston
Please visit https://thebookvoice.com/podcasts/1/audiobook/676882 to listen full audiobooks. Title: Try Not to Be Strange: The Curious History of the Kingdom of Redonda Author: Michael Hingston Narrator: Tom Lute Format: Unabridged Audiobook Length: 9 hours 20 minutes Release date: April 15, 2023 Genres: Memoirs Publisher's Summary: On his fifteenth birthday, in the summer of 1880, future science-fiction writer M.P. Shiel sailed with his father and the local bishop from their home in the Caribbean out to the nearby island of Redonda—where, with pomp and circumstance, he was declared the island’s king. A few years later, when Shiel set sail for a new life in London, his father gave him some advice: Try not to be strange. It was almost as if the elder Shiel knew what was coming. Try Not to Be Strange: The Curious History of the Kingdom of Redonda tells, for the first time, the complete history of Redonda’s transformation from an uninhabited, guano-encrusted island into a fantastical and international kingdom of writers. With a cast of characters including forgotten sci-fi novelists, alcoholic poets, vegetarian publishers, Nobel Prize frontrunners, and the bartenders who kept them all lubricated while angling for the throne themselves, Michael Hingston details the friendships, feuds, and fantasies that fueled the creation of one of the oddest and most enduring micronations ever dreamt into being. Part literary history, part travelogue, part quest narrative, this cautionary tale about what happens when bibliomania escapes the shelves and stacks is as charming as it is peculiar—and blurs the line between reality and fantasy so thoroughly that it may never be entirely restored.

Title: Ordinary Wonder Tales Author: Emily Urquhart Narrator: Anne Wessel Format: Unabridged Audiobook Length: 7 hours 43 minutes Release date: April 15, 2023 Genres: Memoirs Publisher's Summary: A journalist and folklorist explores the truths that underlie the stories we imagine—and reveals the magic in the everyday. “I’ve always felt that the term fairy tale doesn’t quite capture the essence of these stories,” writes Emily Urquhart. “I prefer the term wonder tale, which is Irish in origin, for its suggestion of awe coupled with narrative. In a way, this is most of our stories.” In this startlingly original essay collection, Urquhart reveals the truths that underlie our imaginings: what we see in our heads when we read, how the sight of a ghost can heal, how the entrance to the underworld can be glimpsed in an oil painting or a winter storm—or the onset of a loved one’s dementia. In essays on death and dying, pregnancy and prenatal genetics, radioactivity, chimeras, cottagers, and plague, Ordinary Wonder Tales reveals the essential truth: if you let yourself look closely, there is magic in the everyday.
