The political system we are in takes us out of patiently trusting God and instead aligns us with self-trust. We then become frayed, worried and impatient. We must learn to discern how man-made political structures might steal our primary orientation to be people that PATIENTLY trust God and not trust our own understanding.

We are living in a time of great impatience. We are living at the peak of Modern inventions and conventions. As such, we feel that we can control the future. But rather than provide relief, control actually creates great anxiety. We are invited into practices of patience. We endeavor to live out such a courageous posture because it is our singular purpose to witness to what God has done in Christ to preserve the world.

God made us to be powerfully moved by symbols. Symbols tell stories, but also connect to our heritage and our past. They provide continuity. God in his faithfulness has provided symbols - or sacraments. They are gifts that are a means to connection to God and to each other.
