New Hope Tampa Bay Sunday Sermon Podcast

There’s a spiritual truth that shows up a lot in God’s Word: the more we seek God’s solutions, the more we can expect opposition. It should never surprise us, but it always does. Nehemiah models for us what it means to stay in the solution in the face of opposition.

This Sunday, August 25, we will continue our sermon series featuring the book “Solve: Finding God’s Solutions in a World of Problems” by Rev. Talbot Davis. In week 1 we looked at how we often confuse our problems and our solutions. A lot of times what we identify as a problem is really just a bad solution we have chosen to attempt to deal with what the real problem is. This Sunday we’ll consider Nehemiah 2 with a message titled, “Let’s Do This!” After so many years the exiles who did return to Jerusalem got used to living in ruins. They stopped seeing how bad things were. We get used to what is unacceptable, too. It becomes our new “normal,” but God wants more for us. God wants us to follow Nehemiah’s example to confront the unacceptable conditions in our lives to move toward transformation and healing.

This Sunday, August 18, we will start a new sermon series featuring the book *"Solve: Finding God's Solutions in a World of Problems"* by Rev. Talbot Davis. In week 1 we'll look at how we often confuse our problems and our solutions. A lot of times what we identify as a problem is really just a bad solution we have chosen to attempt to deal with what the real problem is, and we'll meet Nehemiah, who understood the problem wasn't the walls in Jerusalem needing to be rebuilt; rather the problem was his sin and need to repent. That had to come first or a new wall around Jerusalem would be irrelevant. And God never does something great through us until God does something significant in us.

This Sunday, August 11, we will continue our 3-week sermon series “Our Vision at New Hope.” Our vision at New Hope is that we will all be, both individually and corporately as the Body of Christ: Rooted in God's Word, Renewed by the Holy Spirit, and Reaching our community & world with the love of Christ. This week, I will focus on the last part of our vision - reaching our community and world with the Good News of Jesus. We serve a God of mission who seeks to redeem his world and make things right again. God sent Jesus for this purpose - to proclaim the Good News of the Kingdom of God - and Jesus sends us to do the same (Luke 4:16-21, Luke 4:43, Luke 9:1-2, Luke 10, John 17:18, John 20:21). In fact, as God's church, we have been sent to live out and proclaim the Good News AND to share that Good News here, there, and everywhere (Matthew 28:19, Acts 1:8). At New Hope, we do that by coming alongside mission partners at home and abroad, by blessing community partners, engaging in Fresh Expressions, and by living out our "sentness" in our own neighborhoods, workplaces, schools, and places of recreation. But this is not a vision for just a few dedicated workers, it is a vision for ALL of New Hope. Every single person plays a role in making our vision a reality. This Sunday, July 14, we will conclude our sermon series “Habits of Grace” as we focus on our 6th and final habit: "Give Our Time, Talent, and Resources." This is really important stuff! Just as basic Christian beliefs are vital so are basic Christian practices. Our last affirmation is absolutely essential to fulfill the first five commitments. Without a commitment of my time, talent and resources I won’t be able to Pray Regularly, Worship Frequently, Read My Bible, Serve at and Beyond New Hope, and Connect with others for growth and accountability. Our texts are [Malachi 3:10; Matthew 6:19-21, 23:23; Acts 16:13-15; Romans 12:3-6; 1 Corinthians 12:4-7; 1 Timothy 4:14, 6:17-19](https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Malachi+3%3A10%3B+Matthew+6%3A19-21%2C+23%3A23%3B+Acts+16%3A13-15%3B+Romans+12%3A3-6%3B+1+Corinthians+12%3A4-7%3B+1+Timothy+4%3A14%2C+6%3A17-19&version=NLT) Watch the Video and more here: http://findnewhope.com/resources/sermons/ --- Donate via PayPal to support the podcasts and the Technical Arts Ministry of New Hope! https://goo.gl/o2a9oU Subscribe to our New Hope UMC Sunday Sermon Podcast on: * Apple Podcasts - https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/new-hope-umc-sunday-sermon-podcast/id1093524425?mt=2 * Spotify - https://open.spotify.com/show/2habfMJ6S8jirQnpimNwHg?si=nKlvpZRrQYKnsJSJc6Du3Q) * Stitcher Radio - http://www.stitcher.com/s?fid=87782&refid=stpr) * Subscribe on Android - http://subscribeonandroid.com/findnewhopesunday.libsyn.com/rss * Google Play - https://play.google.com/music/m/Ijonx62ajd5qwxv3qgxkizdqnva?t=New_Hope_UMC_Sunday_Sermon_Podcast) * YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLFZw6j-ZlY45HU-m-lQ5XYuphsrbeJMsk Connect with New Hope: * Website: http://www.findnewhope.com/ * Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/brandonchurchfl * Vimeo: http://vimeo.com/findnewhope

This Sunday, July 7, we will continue our sermon series “Habits of Grace” as pick up with our 5th habit: "Connect with Others for Growth and Accountability." God never intended for us to go through life on our own. He created us to be in right relationship with Him and others, which requires our ongoing commitment and a lot of practice. One of God's key "learning laboratories" available to us at New Hope is Connect Groups for growth and accountability. To be better prepared read these texts: [John 13:34-35, Acts 2:42, Romans 12:9-10, and Hebrews 10:24-25](https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=John+13%3A34-35%2C+Acts+2%3A42%2C+Romans+12%3A9-10%2C+Hebrews+10%3A24-25&version=NLT) Watch the Video and more here: http://findnewhope.com/resources/sermons/ --- Donate via PayPal to support the podcasts and the Technical Arts Ministry of New Hope! https://goo.gl/o2a9oU Subscribe to our New Hope UMC Sunday Sermon Podcast on: * Apple Podcasts - https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/new-hope-umc-sunday-sermon-podcast/id1093524425?mt=2 * Spotify - https://open.spotify.com/show/2habfMJ6S8jirQnpimNwHg?si=nKlvpZRrQYKnsJSJc6Du3Q) * Stitcher Radio - http://www.stitcher.com/s?fid=87782&refid=stpr) * Subscribe on Android - http://subscribeonandroid.com/findnewhopesunday.libsyn.com/rss * Google Play - https://play.google.com/music/m/Ijonx62ajd5qwxv3qgxkizdqnva?t=New_Hope_UMC_Sunday_Sermon_Podcast) * YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLFZw6j-ZlY45HU-m-lQ5XYuphsrbeJMsk Connect with New Hope: * Website: http://www.findnewhope.com/ * Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/brandonchurchfl * Vimeo: http://vimeo.com/findnewhope
