In this passage, God’s pleasure is mentioned twice, but in both cases, it’s things He has no pleasure in. What DOES God take pleasure in? That’s in this passage as well. God takes most pleasure in the obedience of His Son. And God takes great pleasure in us when we are like Him. (Hebrews 10:1-10)

As we continue in our study of Hebrews the author concludes the chapter repeating multiple times this idea of a sacrifice. The verses this week will compare sacrifice in the Old Testament and the New Testament to make clear a few very important points: that our redemption is based on the superior sacrifice of Christ, in a superior holy place, offered with superior effectiveness, leading to a superior hope.

The author of Hebrews uses the word "eternal" three times in this passage: Eternal Redemption, Eternal Spirit, and Eternal Inheritance. This should catch our eye and make us wonder, "Does God have a message for us in this word repetition?"

The answer is a resounding “YES!” with extremely practical implications for living out our Christian lives today.

Have you ever felt guilt about something you did or maybe still experience guilt about something you did in the past? How do we remove that guilt? How do gain assurance of our relationship with God despite doubts that may remain? These questions are all answered our focus verses in Hebrews 9 where we will learn that Christ has won us forgiveness and purity by His death on the cross. Hebrews 9:1-14

The main message of this section is that the old Mosaic covenant is obsolete and that we live in the New Covenant, which is so much better. But here's the reality: for some reason, we as Christians, have a strong tendency to revert to the old covenant, back to the law. Why? Why do we do that if the New Covenant is so much better? How can we recognize this tendency and instead, live fully in the New Covenant? Hebrews 8:6-13

As we continue on in our study of Hebrews the author moves from the theme of Jesus’ superior priesthood to the theme of Jesus mediating a better covenant. This better covenant is founded on better promises, in a better holy place, and through a better sacrifice. As we see the truths of this passage, may we be encouraged to greater faithfulness. Hebrews 8:1-7

Have you ever felt hopeless? Have you ever felt distant from others or even God? The author of Hebrews addresses these questions as we continue in Hebrews 7:11-28. Here the author will remind us that because of Jesus we have a better hope that assures we are now able to draw near to God. Hebrews 7:11-28

After taking a break from talking about Jesus as our High Priest the author will return by introducing a mysterious figure named Melchizedek. Who is this person and why is he so important in Hebrews? Join us this Sunday as we see how Melchizedek points us to Jesus! Hebrews 7:1-10

Last week the author of Hebrews gave his readers some strong correction but began to transition towards encouraging them. This week we will see the continuation of that encouragement as we are reminded of the certainty and source of our hope. Join us this Sunday for some strong encouragement! Hebrews 6:13-20

As we continue our study in Hebrews we come this week to a difficult and challenging section. Here the author calls on his readers to proactive maturity. These verses will challenge us to ask how we respond in the midst of challenges. As we will see the truth of Jesus motivates us to pursue active growth in our lives! Hebrews 5:11-6:12
