Galatians 2:15-21 - Paul explains how the grace of God both frees us from having to prove to God that we are somebody, and also how it changes us from the inside out. The Law only had the ability to restrain sin, whereas the Gospel puts the sinner to death, then raises him to newness of life.

Galatians2:11-14 - Peter's mistake, and often ours, is that he was not living "in step with the gospel." He, like us, was fearful, and he, like us, was living hypocritically. The solution is not simply to "do better!" but to bring our lives in line with the gospel. To know it, believe it, and live it out.

Galatians 1:11-24 - Paul testifies that the Gospel has the power to give you "a former life." It can so transform even the most rebellious sinner, that they become the most passionate preacher of God's grace.

Galatians 1:6-10 - There are some in the church who would "distort" the gospel, that is they reverse it. Instead of good news, it becomes bad news. Instead of giving glory to God, it magnifies man. Paul fights for the purity of the one, God-glorifying gospel.

Galatians 1:1-5 - Paul’s great concern for the churches in Galatia is that they know, believe, and apply the truth of the gospel. He defends his apostolic authority in order to protect the purity of the gospel message, and defines the gospel in its simplicity, “Jesus gave himself for our sins, to deliver us from the present evil age.”

Haggai 2:20-23 - Although God has disciplined his people through the exile, the final message of Haggai is the Lord taking his people back, reinstating his promises, reassuring them of his love, and promising that one day, he will act for the great salvation in ways they could never imagine!

Haggai 2:10-19 - God is perfectly Holy, and perfectly merciful. He can look at a sinful, disobedient people and resolve and promise to bless them, only because of the perfect substitutionary death of Jesus on the cross.

Haggai 2:1-9 - God knows that we are often prone to discouragement, and he is quick to reassure us with his presence, and his promise that he himself is at work through our efforts, feeble though they are. It is Christ who is building his church.

Haggai 1:1-11 - God speaks authoritatively by his word, and the only proper response is to humbly submit, and respond to his grace.
