When we desire to be the expert in what is right and what is wrong, we have to be careful not to restrict ourselves in this straitjacket of righteousness. Only Jesus is righteous, we fall short of fulfilling the law. He upholds it and apportions his righteousness to us through grace, mercy and our repentance.

An introduction to the book of Romans, focusing on Romans 1:1-17. Paul introduces the main theme of the letter, which is about the righteousness of God which is received through faith in Christ. He wants to share the Gospel with the Romans to make them strong, steadfast and established in God's salvation of grace.

The heart beat of the Christian life is to love the Lord God (Jesus, Spirit, Father) with all that we are. Our spiritual heart is the capacity to love God and others through the Spirit. We need to be consistent in this love and not irregular, to have a healthy heart beat.

God gives us the ability to serve him and bring him glory through our testimony and good deeds. Its important that we do not take credit for what God has done in our lives.

We have received an amazing Gospel, which is centred on the suffering servant, the Lord Jesus Christ. In response we are to have a foundation of repentance in our lives, awakening to all God has made us to be and to proclaim this Good News intentionally in our church and everyday lives.

Being content whether you have little or much. Beware of the danger of comparison. God's sovereignty and providence lead us to avoid the dangers of betrayal and disaster. The friendship of the Lord is the best reason for us to be content as we will inherit the promises of the future.
