I had written the main hook for this song a while back but didn't know exactly what to do with it until I started creating this beat. Once I had the beat down, I started playing with the melody and found that it worked really well over it, and the rest of the track came pretty quickly after that. This song is all about a laid back, R&B vibe with a cute poem-like lyric that conjures up the feeling of falling in love. I first wrote this song as a "singer-songwriter" style (with acoustic guitar, etc.), but decided to take it in a bit more modern direction with the synths, drums, and keys. With a hip-hop rhythm and hard hitting 808 samples, this track is all about the feeling and the groove. I wanted to create something a little less mainstream, so I decided to create a dichotomy with the verses and choruses - the verses are super punchy and stark, and the chorus is gooey and lush. This track started off with a very different feel, it actually started as a piano ballad. After playing around with the hook idea, I decided to trying singing this melody over it and it worked really well. I decided to create a very innocent love story with it, keeping the lyrics to “I like you” and “do you feel like a teenager” to give it it’s sense of innocence. I wanted to create something that used a blend of acoustic and electric guitars and had a very authentic feel to it. The acoustic guitar keeps the rhythm while the electric guitar fills in a lot of the body, which gives it a nice round sound overall.
