Witches have long been thought to be evil and have mystical powers, beyond what is “natural” and “normal”. But today there are many recognized religious practices that consider themselves witches. We explore the modern day witch and how culture towards witches has changed since its inception in early Europe.

This is an exploration into why people thrift, the culture surrounding it and the environmental benefits of thrift.

WNSR reporter Nihira Ram had the opportunity to audit a 'Radical Addition' class. Taught by Ulrich Lehmann, this course aims to bring together radical theory and artistic practice by fusing otherwise unrelated objects through student creativity which centers user/audience experience. Students presented their work, sometimes explaining; but other times choosing to let the work speak for itself.

The relationship between the 2nd amendment and gun control is a contentious debate in American politics and life. This documentary explores the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (PLCAA) which many critics say allows gun sellers and manufacturers to evade liability when their products are used in mass shootings. The gun lobby supports the passage of this act while gun controls activists fiercely oppose it. I wanted to dig deeper and find out more about this law and its role in the overall gun debate. Going through a depression when I was younger, really showed me how influential music and other forms of art can be during the recovery period. My experience sparked an interest in the practice of art therapy and lead me on a discovery to learn more about the process. In doing this, I sat down with certified creative arts therapist and former New School resident art therapist, Kate McIntosh, to gain more insight on the field. I also spoke with friend and artists, Imani, to get her first hand input on the influence her paintings (like the one used in the photo) has on her life.

Social media and pop culture influences have launched witch culture into the mainstream. The popularity of witchcraft is naturally linked with the feminist movement and even clothing stores have started to brand themselves with this idea in mind. This rise of witch popularity allowed the New York witchcraft scene to gain more visibility than ever before.
