New York’s distinction as a “sanctuary city” is a saving grace for the undocumented community who fear for their future under the 45th U.S. president. But is it enough? Here, producer Ramon Taylor explores the roots of sanctuary, along with efforts made by city officials, universities, and congregations, and the ensuing fight on Capitol Hill that may well determine the fate of more than half a million New Yorkers and millions more across the country.

Currently, America has the highest incarceration rate in the world, and students in the theatre department at Eugene Lang College of Liberal Arts are working to build awareness of that. Not About Nightingales will be running performances during April 2016.

This past summer, the Supreme Court ruled in favor of same sex marriage nationwide. WNSR spoke with New School students and professors and asked them to share their thoughts on this decision, and what the next steps for the LGBT community might be.
