It is believed yogurt was created by accident around 5000 BC. That’s over 7000 years ago. When milk was exposed to bacteria or soured in warm temperatures what we call yogurt was formed. Plain yogurt can be used as a facemask. The lactic acid in the yogurt revitalizes dull, dry skin. Yogurt also contains zinc that can alleviate acne and skin inflammation. Americans consume over 300,000 tons of yogurt each year. Yogurt contains active cultures, also known as good bacteria that helps regulate food digestion. Just one cup of yogurt is packed with about 10 grams of protein. That’s 20% of the daily recommended protein for adults.
