New To Weeaboo

Welcome to episode 113! It's the final episode of 2023, and we're looking at the final Rebuild of Evangelion movie! You know, Evangelion 3.0 + 1.0 Thrice Upon A Time. And to be honest, it's a pretty great way to wrap up the entire series. So we talk about many of the things that make it work for us. You can check out the movie on Amazon Prime.

Time for episode 112! We watched Rebuild of Evangelion 3.33 You Can (Not) Redo. And we can comfortably say it's a bit lacking compared to the previous two movies. Still has some nice bits in it. Check it out on Amazon Prime.

Episode 111 is here! And we talked about the Rebuild of Evangelion 2.22 You Can (Not) Advance! This is where thing significantly veer into new territory. Including introducing a new character! She sure is an odd one. And other existing characters definitely got tweaked a bit. Check it out on Amazon Prime.

Welcome to episode 110! We decided it was about time to watch the Rebuild of Evangelion movies. So we started with Evangelion 1.11 You Are (Not) Alone! It's mostly a retread of the early episodes of the original series. Mostly. Definitely some noteable differences. Check it out on Amazon Prime.

It's a new season, so time for new anime! It's the Fall, specifically, and we watched the first three episodes of four anime. And they have that weird thing where they're all pretty different, but also have a few things in common with one another. But we have a birdman! A guy with way too many soulmates! A woman who may be a bit too genre savvy! And a girl who's absolutely in love with the villainess! Check them all out.

Time for episode 108! We watched Parasyte -the maxim-! It wasn't quite what we were expecting, but it managed to entertain. However, we did find some faults with it, including a weirdly shoehorned message. And some odd music choices. Check it out on Crunchyroll!

Content Warning: This anime features blood, gore, body horror, and mentions of depression, trauma, and suicide. These topics are discussed in the podcast.

Episode 107 is here! We watched Serial Experiments Lain. A very of-its-time late 90s anime. Back when the internet was new to people and some were a bit scared of it. Lain really dips into those fears, plus a lot of other things. Although it's never straightforward about it. You can check it out on Funimation.

Content Warning: This anime opens with a suicide, deals with heavy and depressing subjects, and has some body horror.

Welcome to episode 106! We jump back into idol hell... kind of. Love Live! has a spinoff for Sunshine!! called Yohane the Parhelion: Sunshine in the Mirror (Genjitsu no Yohane). More fantasy! More YOHANE! And all the characters from Sunshine in a new world. But it's not an isekai. You can check it out on Crunchyroll.

Time for episode 105! We decided to watch a 90s anime. It's called Key the Metal Idol! It starts off pretty strong, but then it becomes an utter mess. A gorgeous mess, but a mess all the same. You can check it on Crunchyroll or RetroCrush. (note: the RetroCrush version only has English audio for the 2nd episode).

Episode 104 is here! And we're doing something a little different. An indie anime recently popped up called Volicia of Pluto -Vapor Trail Another Age 2006-. It's a mecha yuri anime. Didn't we just have one of those? Anyway, only one episode is out, but we wanted to talk about it before it's no longer available. Because it goes away at the end of the month. So check it out while you can on YouTube! (It'll be gone on August 31st!)
