Read 1,000 Essays or Short Stories in 1,000 Days. Write 52 Short Stories in 52 Weeks. Am I up for the challenge?

Not the greatest month, but not the worst, either. I’ve been re-evaluating goals and trudging along.

Words for March – 36,983, bringing my yearly total to 83,073, so not quite the 91,000 I was hoping to be at. That’s okay. I think I’m going to catch it an pass it again in April.

Book sales weren’t great this month, but there is a silver lining. Kobo made up 1/3 of my sales and income this month.

This week’s writing advice books:

The 30-Day Author by Kevin Tumlinson

The Plot Machine by Dale Kutzera

The 30-Day Author

This is a great book for building a daily writing habbit. If you’re anything like me, the old advice of “sit down and write” isn’t working for you. Kevin Tumlinson goes into some specific techniques of what to write and why. There’s some sneakyness here that will also get you thinking about larger goals as a writer.

The Plot Machine

I really enjoyed the analytical and structured look at story telling and the different forms story can take. This book is a great look at not just how to put together a plot, but understanding the “why” of a plot’s shape. I suggest it for anyone trying to transition from pantsing to plotting. Not neccessarily for beginning authors.

This week I am talking about the new Smarter Artist book Iterate and Optimize. You can pick it up on Amazon* or head over to the Sterling and Stone Website to find links to other stores.

I’m not going to even bother breaking down the month’s sales for you. They’are that bad.

Despite my reputation as an infallible hyper-deity from the 139th Dimension, I’ve been known to make a few mistakes… and not just typos.
