Newbridge Church - Wheeling WV

Last week, Chris Dew spoke on a very difficult topic — politics.  Today it’s Myron’s turn.  Although he’s not speaking on politics, today’s message is just as challenging as last week’s message.  We hope you can listen with an open heart and mind, and be sensitive to the Holy Spirit speaking to you today.  Here’s Myron.

Today is, as Chris Dew calls it, a “spicy” message.  We’re jumping into politics today and it’s probably going to be challenging for everyone.  But let’s all walk into this with an open mind and an open heart as we hear straight from God’s word.  Here’s Chris.

Today, Pastor Chris is talking to us about our identity — our TRUE identity.  There are so many of us that put our hope in the thing of this world, be it specific politicians, the constitution, our nation in general, or something else altogether.  But Chris reminds us today that we are foreigners here, that this is not our true home.  Listen in with an open mind and heart, and let these words challenge you today.

Loving other people is a difficult thing to do sometimes.  There are so many opportunities to be offended and hurt by other’s it’s amazing that we can live any other way.  But Peter says, because of our salvation, that we are to throw off all the things that keep us from loving people with a sincere love.  That is exactly what Pastor Chris is speaking on today.

We are continuing our series in 1 Peter today with a sermon on holiness.  Now that’s a word that will have different meanings for different people, but Pastor Chris is going to help us understand its true meaning and give us some “holiness traps” to avoid.

We are blessed to have Chris Dew with us today.  He has a fantastic sermon for us where he gets deep into how we live as Christians in our current culture, especially when the views of Christians and Christian ethics are moving from being honored to being viewed as harmful and oppressive.  It’s definitely a message you’ll want to pay attention to and take notes.  We hope it blesses you.

We are in the middle of a new series called “Holy Nation” where we are studying the book of 1 Peter and today, Myron is bringing a very timely message on suffering. We all suffer, but it’s our perspective that influences how our suffering impacts our lives.

One of the primary themes in the book of Proverbs is the fear of the LORD.  The problem is that most people have a wrong view of God and therefore have a wrong understanding of what the fear of the LORD truly is.  Chris Dew is with us today and he’s going help us get a better, more accurate view of God so that we can live rightly.
