Local independent songwriter and artist Angela Rose has been making waves with her country-tinged indie pop and recently dropped in to record a Warehouse Session with us.

Angela has just released a new single called Nepotism Baby which is perfectly tongue-in-cheek but also very relatable and catchy.

We caught up with Angela to chat about her latest releases and what she has planned for the future.

Following the release of his autobiography, Newcastle’s Godfather of Rock, Mark Tinson has curated a lineup of some of the most influential musicians from Maitland to create the new compilation CD The Maitland Sound 1970-2024. 

To celebrate its release, most of the artists who featured on the album will make their way to Flamingos Live on 7 November to perform the songs live.

Named after the much-loved Australian beer Stone & Wood, Stoney Dubs has been rocking out since 2021 and just took out first place in the UON Band Comp 2024.

Stoney Dubs have also been drawing attention to the misogyny in our local/national scene by speaking about their experiences as a band.

After receiving the inaugural Paul Woseen Memorial Music Grant earlier this year, Chain Daisy are about to release their debut single Daisies.

Chain Daisy will take to the stage at the Stag and Hunter Hotel this Friday night with their full band to launch the single.

Local band Smacked Youth has just returned from a huge run of gigs alongside The Screaming Jets and have released a brand new song called Rut.

Formed in 2016, the band now consists of Sean (bass), Jake (drums) and Sam (vocals/guitar).

For the last year and a half local photographer, artist and curator, Penelope Morgan has been working full time in a studio space located between The Edwards and Rudderless Records Store.

Penelope is about to unveil this space as Golden Galleries which will showcase an artist every 6 weeks and is set to be launched with Julie McVey’s first solo show called But A Dream this Friday night.

Newcastle-based indie pop and rock duo The Tryouts have just released a new single called Ray Christ which is a story from one half of The Tryouts Dave’s hometown Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.

To celebrate its release, The Tryouts will host a Halloween-themed launch gig this Sunday at the Oak in Tighes Hill, which will also feature their first show as a three-piece.
