Senate Bill 154 (SB 154) was enacted on June 4, 2025, and becomes effective on August 1, 2025. This law prohibits possessing, selling, and distributing kratom throughout Louisiana. Under the law, kratom is classified as a Schedule I controlled substance. After August 1, 2025, individuals found with kratom will face penalties, with more severe consequences for larger quantities or repeated offenses. Dr. Mordecai Potash has been treating many kratom addicts and has documentation of kratom addiction dating back to 1836! Dr. Potash joins Newell to explain why this ban is a great thing.
