Being back from the Vancouver Resource Investment Conference (VRIC), we had to bring on JP Cortez, who was a guest speaker at the conference. On this episode, we take a deep dive into whats happening on the ground in the real estate market. We bring it back to the grassroots of an economy, people who hustle and seek to make their own outcomes a reality. Even though on this podcast, we love talking about the financial markets and global macro sphere, we cannot forget that it is individuals who move economies at the micro level and make things possible. Without hard working people, there is no progress.
With us we have Josh Steinberger, the Founder of NextGen Restoration Inc. Josh has been pushing through the market building his business from $0 to $20-25M in sales annually and has seen first hand what is currently happening in the housing market. Although right now, things seem to be rather smooth sailing, the recent rise in interest rates signals an important behaviour most entrepreneurs need to build around; investing every cent and dollar into cash flow producing assets. Josh shares with us whats happening at the micro levels and his strategies for creating wealth, while further passing on this knowledge to his kids and the younger generation of future leaders.

A narrative is starting to build in the world of macro finance and will likely result in a potential recession. The inversion of the yield curve is what is driving that conversation; with the 2 & 5 Year-yield pushing higher than the 10-year treasury in the last week, its become an indicator tool to monitor in the current market environment. Historically, the inversion of the yield curve has proven a relatively reliable lead to the outcome of a potential recession.
We also touch a little on our personal portfolios, adapting our investment themes according to that markets reality relative to both its short term and long term outlooks. And the inversion of the yield curve is likely to throw another curve ball while central banks claim the economy is strong....
On episode 65, we take a more geo political macro angle, looking at little bit of the history and context of the Ukrainian conflict with Russia, and the unintended consequence of the western sanctions, in accordance to this conflict. After all, the region of Russia and Ukraine have far more economic impact than most people realize, or at least that the media shares.
From wheat, to oil, natural gas and many other raw commodities. The expanding relations in the eastern hemisphere building their trade relations and showing signs of pushing out the US dollar as necessary tool for commodity trading between nations.
There is still a lot of tension geo politically, meanwhile markets have shown resilience in the face of rate hikes (although only 25 basis points) with risk on appetite back on.
Stay alert and vigilant. The macro story of economic conflict is not over yet.
On this episode, we focus on a new industry that has been highlighted by JP Morgan has having a trillion dollar potential in the near future. Joining us, is Andrew Kiguel the Co-Founder & CEO of Tokens.com, a publicly listed company (COIN.NE / SMURF.OTC) who's main purpose is to offer investors an opportunity to get indirect exposure into Web 3.0, Metaverse real estate, DeFI and NFT related Digital Assets.
We break down the potential of Decentraland - a digital universe where people can create, invest in assets, advertise their company's, and discuss the impacts of it’s involvement within the gaming, fashion and music industry. More importantly, addressing how the company has been allowing people in 3rd world countries to break above the poverty line, by being active participants within the Metaverse community.
There is clearly a gateway to an entire new ecosystem of assets that are ripe for growth and investment opportunities. Tokens.com is certainly at the forefront of this shift - having been mentioned in major news publication since the historic $2.43M acquisition of Digital Land within Decentraland, some of the largest and well known brands globally are seeing this as the best opportunity to connect with a new generation of consumers and investors.

The world will never stop needing commodities. It has its place, and it has been neglected for far too long. We are entering a new environment where value will be the priority. Where free cashflow is expected to significantly rise and is matching market caps that are far greater than the entire commodity space as a whole.
Geopolitical risks are a significant variable to consider at a macro economic level. When this variable becomes more prominent and penetrates global economies, chaos, tension and systemic pressure become an expected outcome. We have another year ahead of volatility and uncertainty: with issues like Russia and Ukraine, China and Taiwan/India, global revolt and protests against government mandates. These issues can easily add inflationary pressure on a global scale from oil and natural gas prices, supply disruptions and de-globalization from expanding political tension among nations.
As an investor, we still have to keep our eyes and mind alert to these risks and allow them to guide our investment allocations be it for growth or hedging purposes. Heads up and stay alert because 2022 is going to another fascinating year.
Energy - What an incredible important sector for our societies and technological capabilities. The issue becomes, how do we innovate and adapt our energy infrastructure to accommodate humanitarian and environmental pursuits that we believe are worthy of our time. We must care about our planet as humans, but we must also not allow our pursuits to ignore fundamental truths of reality that it disrupts our global economies, messing with supply and demand, preventing investment flow to drive capex investments and so forth. Oil is a significant component of the global economy, and will remain so for some time to come. Now more than ever, dialogue is critical for our energy development moving forward. And as investors, we must also accept the realities of these market truths and adapt our capital to move with these trends and these behaviours. There is still uncertainty ahead and caution ⚠️ . Why not hedge your gas bill by owning some oil and gas in your portfolio ?
On this episode we break down what’s been going on so far into 2022. And like every year since 2020, volatility and chaos is more and more the norm. We’ve got energy crisis being felt around the word, from natural gas rising to oil. We have the fed promising to fight inflation……. We shall see about that. We have supply chains still dealing with problems. We’ve got geopolitical risks escalating around the world, mainly with Russia and Ukraine, China and Taiwan. And of course we have a massive trucker convoy, stationed in Ottawa, Canada - what are the economic implications of all this and how should investors be ready?
