Racial Reconciliation

What is God saying these days as the world is in chaos? Does He have something to challenge us on regarding discrimination, injustice, race...?

A difficult topic to be sure. I'd ask you not tune it out though.

We tend to pursue what we don't have. That's why unfortunately so often when we "have" a spouse we stop the practice of "pursuing" them and yet we all know HOW to do it... we did it while we dated after all.

The relational discipline of pursuit actually points to a God who pursues US... "chases me down, fights 'till I'm found, leaves the 99"

Covid Divorce? Corona babies? Cabin fever? More than perhaps anytime in recent history, marriages are feeling the tension. This extended time together is like a pressure cooker. The pressure will either produce diamonds or break relationships entirely. Because God created marriage and loves marriages and longs for them to succeed, He actually has some wisdom from His Word FOR marriages and it begins with something... a little counterintuitive. Make your spouse your second priority. (huh?)

The final message in this series and it's a doozy as Paul reminds us we are in a battle - not against humans - but against darkness and powers and principalities in an UNSEEN world. Too many Christians don't even KNOW they're in a battle but for those of us who do, you need to know your enemy, your King and the weapons at your disposal

We are on the home stretch in our study of Ephesians. In Chapter 6, Pastor Glenn unpacks God's Fatherly relationship with us and how it ought to inform how we parent (not to mention how we treat our employers and employees)

In our study of the letter to the Ephesians, it just seems to get more and more applicable as we navigate these crazy days of a pandemic.

Paul says "So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise. Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days."

Do you think these days could be called "evil"? Ya.

Do you think there are people acting particularly foolish these days? Paul tells us to live wisely and (in context) lets us know the SOURCE of that wisdom.

Too often we live like fatherless orphans, not sure where our next meal is coming from and insecure if we are truly loved when God the Father has in fact chosen us and adopted us into his family. Instead of calling us "Sons and daughters of disobedience and wrath", he calls us His "children of light" and if we REALLY understood that as our identity, it might just change everything.

On this (virtual) communion Sunday we are reminded that bitterness is a trap, that hurt people hurt people but that FORGIVEN people forgive!
