人手は限られているのに、荷物は激増、加えて再配達等のサービスの提供は、従業員を肉体的にも精神的にも追い込んでいった。

過酷な職場に見切りをつけて辞めていく従業員、その補充はもちろん容易ではない。

こうして臨界に達した宅配業界が、サービス内容や従業員の勤務について見直しをするに至ったのは、必然であろう。

宅配料の値上げや、従業員にフレキシブルな働き方を認めるなど、ヤマト運輸などは改革に乗り出している。

その一方で、利用する側も、宅配ボックスを設置するなどして、再配達にならないよう配慮するなど、良識ある利用が求められている。

過剰サービスの競争に陥った宅配業界と、それに慣れ切った消費者とが、ともに課題解決に向けて取り組む必要があるだろう。
