Skagway’s latest assembly meeting featured reports on an international mining conference, citizen concerns of how border issues could affect Skagway and a final decision on the Main Street Rehabilitation Project. There will be green strips. KHNS’ Melinda Munson has the details.

There is just one septic pumping company in Skagway and it’s allowed to empty its truck into the municipal’s wastewater treatment plant once per week. The owner of the septic service warns that might not be enough to keep Skagway smelling sweet. KHNS’ Melinda Munson reports.  

Representatives from the mining industry gathered in Vancouver, British Columbia last week for an annual conference. But opponents of a mineral exploration project outside Haines seized on the opportunity for their own purposes.
