At Texas Tech, one of the first things Joey McGuire fixed was how the team ate. It might sound small, but there wasn’t even a dedicated football dietitian when he arrived, now they have two. The difference in how the players eat today compared to before he got there is night and day. Food actually came up in McGuire’s very first one-on-one conversations with players, which says everything. Breaking bread is universal, and the fact that players brought it up showed they knew it needed to change just as much as the coaches did.
