We’re celebrating the season of Advent with a series that looks at the first-hand experiences of those who were there at the first Christmas. These people received announcements that were not only life-changing, they were world-changing. No one would ever be the same after them. Last week we heard about the angel’s visit to Mary. This week, we’ll hear what God has to say to Joseph.

These messages will help us understand how Christmas can turn our sorrow to joy and transform us not just for a season, but for a lifetime. Please join us, and it’s the perfect time of year to invite a friend.

This week is youth service Sunday, so you’ll see our teenagers involved in various aspects of the service. At the end of just about every Christmas movie, conversation, or memory, people say, “…and that’s what Christmas is all about.” What they mean is, it’s about giving to one another, being more gracious, loving others who don’t deserve it, etc. And while these are all good things, they miss the real point of Christmas.

The point is, these are the things that Christ has done. He has thought of the poor and the lonely, he has given grace to the undeserving, he has done everything that we need not only to have relationship with each other, but to have relationship with him, which is the most important thing. That’s is what Christmas is all about.

So please, come to our new four-week series leading up to Christmas. This week we’re going to be giving away a tiny gift to help you and your family celebrate what Christmas is all about. Hey family, for six weeks we’ve been in a series called Equipped, about putting on the armor of God—meaning the privileges, the benefits, the gifts we have in Christ. We’ve talked about how to arm ourselves with truth and righteousness, how to walk in peace and faith, and how to live according to God’s word.

But Paul talks about one more aspect of the armor that is rarely mentioned. Come this Sunday to learn what it is, and invite a friend as we wrap up the whole idea of being Equipped. Kids’ Church is available and the teenagers will be meeting in their youth group as well, so be sure to bring the family along!

When someone we love tells us exactly what we need to hear in that moment, it feels like a gift—whether it’s hard to hear or whether it’s a comfort. This Sunday we’re going to talk about the Sword of the Spirit, and how God, the Lover of our soul, uses his Word to tell us exactly what we need, exactly when we need it.

You don’t want to miss this message. It’s an opportunity to start becoming aware of God personally speaking to each of us. Join us Sunday at 10 a.m. and invite friends and family as we pursue the Lord together. Kids’ Church is available and the teenagers will be meeting in their youth group as well, so be sure to bring them along!

Hey family, many times as we go through life, we feel that we have to face an onslaught of temptations, attacks, adversity and difficulties. And we wish we had a defense against what's coming at us. The good news is, we have the Shield of Faith.
