  • Levi Banner - Finding Life Balance with Yoga, Astrology, and Breath Work - Life Athletics Podcast Ep 108

Levi is a former breakdancer, but not focuses on yoga, astrology, and breath work. He's such an inspirational fellow, whose main goal is to be able to share his knowledge and expertise to others so that he can help them build better lives.

"I'm not trying to be famous to be seen; I want to be famous so I can share more."

Levi puts emphasis on consistency - as this is essential to everything we do in life. If you want to be good at something, do it often. Get up and show up - for yoga practice, for sports, for life. It's as simple as that.

"I feel empowered when I'm empowering people."

    ***

    Habit of thought:

"My astrological awareness - that everything in this world is temporary."

    Habit of action:

    "My daily practice of yoga."

"Even if it gets really hard, you just gotta go with it and move with it"

What does success mean to you?

    "Success is happiness."

What does balance mean to you?

    "Balance is health."

What do you do to get in the zone?

    "Breathe deeply."

What do you want to tell people to stop doing if they want to have success in their lives?

"Stop telling themselves the negative story."

"Find what you love and do it a lot."

  • Danny Flood - Exploring Life Hacks for Sleep, Work, and Success - Life Athletics Podcast Ep 107

Danny is an accomplished author who has self-published several books that teach individuals work, sleep, and productivity hacks.

"Once you learn how the brain works, you can set your own directions."

Willpower and discipline are two main topics that Danny talked about on this episode. He begins by telling us how important it is to work in batches and setting goals for the day in advance- this lessens the burden of decision-making, which he believes is a waste of time.

"If you can structure your decision making so that you have to make a fewer decisions, you can become more capable."

    ***

    Habit of thought and action:

The concept of replacing a problem with a true reward. In his case, when he feels the need or craving to drink Thai tea, he opts for coconut water instead. It's a healthier choice, and a true win - not just satisfying a temporary urge.

"Willpower is the most sacred form of energy."

What does success mean to you?

"Being able to live life on your own terms."

What does balance mean to you?

Danny doesn't believe in work-life balance. What he wants us to know is that when you're working, you should focus 100% on getting the job done. Once you've completed what you need to complete, then take a break.

This, for him, is what balance is: putting in the work and effort, and then claiming your reward.

What do you do to get in the zone?

    "Identifying my circadian rhythm."

What do you want to tell people to stop doing if they want to have success in their lives?

    "Do not take failure personally."

"Stay humble, stay hungry. Know your way forward."

Rick talks about how the strategies he lays out on his book about becoming better at managing the classroom can also be applied to everyday life. Teachers make changes the way students learn, which is one step at a time. Tweet this!

In addition, he talks about the importance of breathing - which I totally agree with. In life, we have to tackle so many struggles and most of the time we forget to just keep our head above water and breathe. Rick also makes it a point to remind everyone that we need to be kinder to ourselves, that we need to love ourselves no matter what.

We don't have to change who we are to receive love. Tweet this!

    Habit of thought:

    "I'm always in service mode."

    Habit of action:

Aside from "embracing the worst-case scenarios," Rick says that stretching in the morning and exercises allows for his body to "wake up."

On writing: "I just write and I just build with it."

"Success means that I am centered inside myself, in my own body, and that I am kind to myself and others."
