EAST WEST SHRINE GAME INVITE Senior defensive back Cody Davis was been named to the 2012 Capital One Academic-America First Team and becomes the first Texas Tech football player to earn this honor since former quarterback Kliff Kingsbury in 2002. Cody Davis, a senior from Stephenville, TX led the team with 101 total tackles (84 solo), including 10 tackles in the Meineke Car Care Bowl. His 84 solo tackles ranks in the top 10 nationally. His outstanding senior season was rewarded by the league coaches as he was named to the All-Big 12 Second Team. In addition to his on field talents, he was named a finalist for the prestigious William B. Campbell Trophy while earning a $15,000 post-graduate scholarship from the National Football Foundation. Davis ends his career as just the third Red Raider over the last 12 years to record at least 80 tackles in four consecutive seasons.
