Carlow senior football manager, Niall Carew, saw almost every match in the county's senior football championship and went to as many junior and intermediate games as time would allow him. 
From this, he has assembled a squad of nearly 50 players. He is optimistic about what 2023 will bring . He says he and the players have learned from 2022 and will bring new ideas  and a fresh approach into the O'Byrne Cup, the league and the championship.
