Nowadays we live in a society where it’s easy to get bogged down with lots of negativity. We're constantly exposed to emotional, cognitive and even physical threats as we go along our day to day chores. Criticism, invalidation and unsurmountable questioning to situations and people that make us feel empty, overwhelmed, shallow, lost and small. It's so hard to step out of this momentum and to leave the motion of tension, stress, burning out and fear. Positive affirmations are a type of antidote to this cycle. A way to help shuttle out some of that negativity, fear and despair in terms of just stating, seeing and interpreting things differently as we say them to ourselves. Affirmations are sentences to give a statement, a situation or an action a positive classification and serve to fund the subconscious with new information and alternative thoughts, feelings and at some point also habits. They can replace these deadlocked and discouraging thought, feeling and action patterns with liberating, positive and inspiring ones. Regular repetition of affirming statements about yourself are advised for up to three months before they encourage your brain to take these positive affirmations as a fact and as such change how you feel in this journey that we call life. When you truly believe you can do something, your actions often follow. At the end one needs to realize that the affirmation don't make the change, but you putting them into action and living by their standards will! This guided meditation could be a starting point.
