NickelX (ASX: NKL) managing director Matthew Gauci joins Small Caps to discuss the company's plans to acquire the Cosmos South nickel project in Western Australia. Described as "highly prospective but poorly explored", the property is located on the Wiluna Greenstone Belt just 10km south of Western Area's (ASX: WSA) large Cosmos nickel mine and 20km north of BHP's (ASX: BHP) Leinster nickel operation. NickelX has signed a binding term sheet for an option over 100% of the ground, which will see the base metals explorer commit $500,000 in exploration spending over 24 months and issue the private vendor about $300,000 worth of shares in two tranches. The property ranked highly on NickelX's acquisition target list and is believed to represent a "very compelling" nickel target.
