It looks complex, because it is in a way but after studying it for awhile and tweaking parameters, it soon becomes more obvious, honestly.

This video is a guide to MiRack or at least a particular patch comprising of several modules. I’m playing around with my microphone setup, so apologies if the balance in this one might be a little off. I’ll fine tune it over time.

There’s some interesting modules at play here, great for ambient music production and we’ll explore other genres in the future.

Let’s do #jamuary because that’s a big thing on YouTube, are we doing it here on 3Speak?

In this electronic jam, I’m using Hammerhead for my drum machine, Lattice to drive it through MIDI and some programming on the fly. Fugue machine is driving the Etude piano which is being channeled into an effects chain featuring Silo and Ascent, two reverbs as it happens to turn the piano into a soundscape. There is a limiter on the audio bus to keep things from peaking.

This is a fairly uncomplicated little sketch but it’s all good practice, for trying out new ideas.

I recorded the output to an audio file, which I shall add to the Samply Hive library folder over there, to collect these ideas over time.

I love creating my own music but it’s also interesting to study classical pieces and give them a modern synthy twist as it were.

I’ve always loved Troika and whilst I don’t believe it was originally composed to be a piece of festive music, the sleigh bells have given it that flavour.

Emerson, Lake and Palmer also famously used a section of this famous classic in their great song, “I believe in Father Christmas” another favourite of mine.

This is a short version because I could only find a brief score in MIDI format that I set up in Cubasis, chose the instrumentation I felt fits best. That was that.

I hope to find the fuller score somewhere but shall leave that to another time.

Scaler 2 is a great plugin for helping you find chords that work well with certain scales and ideas that you might have. I’m currently composing some new music and will be throughout 2026 but at a slower pace. Hoping to compose my best stuff so far.

In this video I take the chord progression and try it out with some instruments, including strings and a granular synth.
