  • Social conversations: Police unions call for urgent action after Christmas cop killings

Policing unions have called for urgent action to prevent police murders after two officers were found dead on Christmas day.

The South African Policing Union (SAPU) said it was outraged by the two murders and called for the murder of police officers to be declared as treason.

"We call on the state President Cyril Ramaphosa to declare police killings as treason for it is a crime against the state, so that those who are found guilty of police killing crimes face harsher sentences," SAPU said.

"We call on the society at large to take a stance against police killings, as it is known that criminals who are responsible for police killings live amongst us in our communities and are known by our communities."

Social conversations: How big is the Cannabis industry for South Africa?

In the Country Investment Strategy (CIS) released mid-2022 by the Presidency for public comment, cannabis, alongside green hydrogen, is one of five big frontiers of government-identified strategic foreign direct investment opportunities designed to meet the ambitions of the National Development Plan (NDP).

On 29 November 2022, President Cyril Ramaphosa opened the green hydrogen summit where the government promoted green hydrogen as a key just-transition project with strong ministerial and interdepartmental support, along with dedicated coordination, personnel and financial resources.

Green hydrogen is hydrogen manufactured with renewable technologies. There is currently no green hydrogen manufactured in South Africa, but it has been identified to support a just transition to a climate-resilient and sustainable South African society. An estimated 1.3 million jobs could be created by 2050, helping to transform our existing grey hydrogen manufacturing capacity into green hydrogen through a significant increase in renewable energy availability.

  • Closet conversations: Is it rude to bring your own food and other resources to someone's house?

Guest on line: Mathawe Matsapola -Seasoned Journalist & Editor/Entrepreneur/Certified Life Coach and COMENSA member/ Speaker/

Closet conversations: Is it rude to bring your own food and other resources to someone's house?

One A Teamer said: Bringing your own food to someone’s house is understandable if you have specific food requirements that are unusual or is you who have other food needs. I have a friend who always carries a banana or apple with her because she has low blood sugar and sometimes just needs something to eat. People who are vegan or even glucose intolerant might want to carry a small supply of food with them just in case their specific needs cannot be met by the people they are visiting. If what they brought is not necessary, it can be fun to have them add it to the general group! In other words, I don’t think it is rude to bring food to someone else’s house.
