"I am so pissed off," said Bonteheuwel's Gale Piet as she struggled to get out of her house because of flood water above her ankles at her door.
"This has been going on for the last 10 years," she said. "If they could just clean the drains! My paving is so damaged."
She is one of the many Cape Town residents who did not sleep a wink watching the water ebb closer and closer to their front doors.
The City of Cape Town embarked on a massive storm drain clearing operation recently, but Piet said they were not cleaned often enough to cope with the water flow in the area. The openings were not covered with net to catch heavy items that clogged the pipes either.

Black tax is a term that originated in South Africa to describe money that Black (or other people of colour) professionals provide to their families on a monthly basis, usually out of obligation, in addition to their own living expenses. It is caused by a persistent economic imbalance dating back to apartheid and slavery. "When compared to those who do not have the financial responsibility of caring for extended family members, such as parents and siblings, even grandparents and grandchildren, the issue of 'black tax' can make it extremely difficult to save."

Let's focus on men for a moment; we all know that we expect men to be the breadwinners and household caregivers. And, since June is also Men's Month, how do we care for our gentlemen? We know that we've told men not to speak up when they're struggling because doing so is seen as weak, so they don't. How do we create a safe environment for them to open up to their families and partners? We know that men have a slightly higher suicide rate than women. What are some of the systems that can be implemented to address this problem? Suicide we are currently ranking at number 10 in the world and number 1 is Lesotho.

We discuss how conversations can be recorded or saved without the knowledge of the other participants, and how this can lead to a legal action. We all know that people record and save private conversations in order to post them as threads or memes on social media or to get funny reactions on Tik Tok. What do you do if you overhear a conversation that you didn't intend for the public to hear? Do you have a legal leg to stand on in the event of a lawsuit?
