The impacts of climate change on species and ecosystems are already evident. Poleward shifts in the geographic distributions of species, catastrophic forest fires and mass bleaching of coral reefs all bear the fingerprints of climate change.
But what will the world’s biodiversity look like in the future?
Projections indicate that unless emissions are rapidly reduced the climate crisis will get substantially worse. Up to 50% of species are forecast to lose most of their suitable climate conditions by 2100 under the highest greenhouse gas emissions scenario.

While people do have the capacity to change, they need to deeply want to and be committed to all aspects of change in order to begin to do so — and even then, it’s a lot easier said than done.
In discussing why abusers abuse , it’s clear that a lot of the causal factors behind these behaviors are learned attitudes and feelings of entitlement and privilege — which can be extremely difficult to truly change. Because of this, there’s a very low percentage of abusers who truly do change their ways.

South Africa’s education system is complex, with historical inequalities dating back to apartheid. Most of the country’s pupils come from disadvantaged backgrounds. Language is an issue; most pupils do not speak English as a mother tongue, yet English dominates in many classrooms. And, as the COVID-19 crisis has showed, there’s a huge digital divide at play.

For the operations manager of Door of Hope, Nadene Gabham, it is a further indication of how desperate families have become as the lockdown continues to inflict financial hardship across the country.
“You have no income, a mouth to feed. What are you going to do? Some mothers will give their child up for adoption, others will leave their child to die,” said Gabham.

Child abandonments have increased since lockdown, as have acts of violence against minors.

Almost 16% of SA's residential tenants did not pay any rent in April, and a further 16% did not pay the full amount, according to preliminary data from Tenant Profile Network (TPN).

The number is expected to look much worse for May, when it will reflect the first mass job losses as a result of the coronavirus crisis and lockdown.

While evictions are currently banned during lockdown, landlords are already moving to issue letters of demand.
