Are liminal spaces actually scary… or are they just weird empty rooms?

This week, the Night Watchers dive into the Backrooms, poolrooms, endless suburban neighborhoods, creepy places in the Ozarks, bizarre family stories, and the unsettling places that somehow feel comforting instead of terrifying.

Then everything completely falls apart.

By popular request, the crew brings back the round-table storytelling challenge: one person picks the subject, everyone contributes one sentence at a time, and together they attempt to create an original creepypasta.

The subject?

Wild hogs.

What follows involves Billy Blue, Steve, increasingly desperate rhymes, Tim Allen, Jimmy Fallon, and one of the most catastrophically bad horror stories ever assembled.

It was supposed to be scary.

It was not.

Niall has officially entered the film industry—and somehow his first real acting gig involves furiously pretending to pleasure himself, a magical sock coming to life, and an actual professional film crew capturing the whole thing.

After interrogating Niall about his promising new career, we tackle one of horror’s strangest genres: liminal horror. Are the Backrooms actually scary? Would discovering impossible extra space inside your house terrify you, or would you simply close the door and never go back? And at what point does an empty, endless space become genuinely horrifying?

Along the way, we encounter floating buttholes, House of Leaves, childhood Minecraft, abandoned buildings, impossible architecture, demons, terrible hypotheticals, and several conversations that probably should have remained private.

Things get weird fast on this episode of Night Watchers.

The crew begins with strange things they’ve experienced lately—including Noah hearing a bloodcurdling scream somewhere around his house—before Darkness introduces a horrifying question: what would you do if a completely indestructible, disembodied butthole suddenly appeared inside your home?

Naturally, this evolves into a full-blown liminal horror scenario involving mysterious voids, cameras, drones, missing animals, questionable business opportunities, and the discovery of what can only be described as the Ass-biss.

Eventually, the conversation crawls back toward actual horror as the group looks back on their favorite horror anthologies and childhood nightmares, including Goosebumps, Slappy, The Haunted Mask, The Werewolf of Fever Swamp, Creepshow, Tales from the Crypt, Black Mirror, and Masters of Horror.

Then Niall arrives.

And somehow things get worse.

Urban Dictionary definitions, beaver tails, questionable wellness trends, bodily horror, frozen anatomy, and an exploding crawlspace round out one of the most deranged Night Watchers episodes yet.
