Saturday afternoon during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, a 20-year-old shooter attempted to take the 45th President of the United States, Donald Trump’s life. The 78-year-old was only minutes into delivering his speech when a bullet grazed his ear, causing him to get down and take cover. The attack killed a bystander, critically wounded two others, and prompted questions about how a gunman was able to open fire from a nearby rooftop. We had lots to unpack this edition of NightSide!

During this last hour of NightSide, Dan wanted to know who you think Trump should pick as his vice-presidential candidate!

Did President Biden calm Democratic fears last evening with his news conference? Biden’s performance, where he referred to Vice President Kamala Harris as “Vice President Trump,” and Ukrainian President Zelensky as Putin, did not assuage concerns for Democrats like U.S. Reps. Seth Moulton and Adam Smith. Did Biden’s performance calm any of your concerns?

This week the Karen Read defense team filed a motion to dismiss two of the three charges against Read citing affidavits that four jurors indicated to them that the jury unanimously agreed to acquit her of second-degree murder and leaving the scene of personal injury and death. The prosecution from the case clapped back against the motion calling the claims, “hearsay.” We discussed!
