With Joey Chestnut, the 16x champion of the contest, now out of the competition due to a contract dispute, local MA resident Geoffrey Esper has emerged as the new favorite. Geoffrey joined Gary to discuss his strategy and how confident he’s feeling about the competition!

Then, Ranker has released a list comprising the twenty-three things you are most embarrassed to order at a restaurant (as an adult). Topping the list is a well-done steak and buttered noodles. What are you too embarrassed to order while dining out?

The U.S. Surgeon General, Vivek Murthy is calling for a warning label on social media platforms citing research that points to a link between social media use and poor mental health in children. Murthy wrote in a recent NY Times op-ed, “The mental health crisis among young people is an emergency and social media has emerged as an important contributor.” Mental health specialist Josette Sullins joined Gary to discuss.

On Monday, the Boston Celtics announced Celtics owner Wyc Grousbeck is planning to sell his majority stake in the team. This comes on the heels of an NBA Championship. Why sell? The jury in the Karen Read murder trial has been deadlocked. After 5 days, almost 23 hours of deliberations, the jury was unable to reach a verdict resulting in the judge declaring a mistrial. So, now what? The Norfolk County DA’s office announced they will be retrying the case. Gary heard from WBZ-TV’s Kristina Rex who has been covering the Karen Read trial!
