The first half of the 9 o'clock hour Dan continued the conversation on:
For 41 years, Bill Shields graced the airwaves of WBZ-TV, courageously covering our New England storms and everything in between. He was a staple in the news industry and touched everyone he met along the way. This past Friday, he lost his battle with lung cancer after a brief time in hospice care. Another icon, former President Jimmy Carter, just entered hospice after a series of hospital stays. Dan reflected on the lives and accomplishments of both these men and invited listeners to share any of their own thoughts and memories.
Then, the second half of the hour Dan dove into his second topic of the evening:
Biden’s Surprise Trip to Kyiv. To exhibit what President Joe Biden has called America’s “unwavering support” of Ukraine’s war efforts against Russia, Biden secretly traveled to Kyiv today and met with President Volodymyr Zelensky, promising to release another $500 million in military aid. The discussion included talk of artillery ammunition, Javelin missiles, and Howitzers, but did not include the advanced arms that Ukraine has asked for in the past. President Biden outlined he felt it was important to physically be in Ukraine around the one-year anniversary of the Russian attack, so there was no question about U.S. support. Dan heard listeners' reaction to the President making an in-person visit to Ukraine.
