Massachusetts State Senator Bill Driscoll Jr. has identified more than $9.7 Million and counting in exclusive funding intended for gateway municipalities provided to cities or towns that no longer meet the legal criteria to be considered a gateway municipality under Massachusetts general laws. The senator has also uncovered data showing multiple communities in MA that qualify for gateway municipality status but has never been included in the initiative. Sen. Driscoll has been exploring possible legislative changes to the state’s gateway municipality designation for years and joined us to discuss.

We discussed the temporary utility bill reductions this winter that were requested by Massachusetts Gov. Maura Healey last week. There seems to be some confusion over how much utility companies will charge customers over the next two months. Will the companies be able to recoup any of the money they lost in Feb. & March? How and when? The Healey Administration asked utility companies to temporarily lower gas and electric bills by 10% in February and March.
