The Nimiq team is embarking on a project to experiment with blockchain technology in one of the most popular tourist destinations in Costa Rica. The team has been meeting with local businesses to see what can be done to bring crypto adoption into this region more easily, and as a community, we can all be a part of it. Nimiq created Albatross, a new, super-fast Proof-of-Stake consensus algorithm. Team Nimiq is currently working on the transition to PoS based on Albatross to speed up transaction times and overall scalability of the network. Moving to PoS is also about overcoming the environmental burden caused by the electricity consumption of PoW. In this episode, Nimiq developers discuss the current status and main challenges of this upgrade.
