NinosCorner™ Sports Podcast

The Texas Longhorn football coaching staff is finalized.  The Longhorns bring in Montana State Head Coach, Jeff Choate, to become the next Linebacker Coach at Texas.  Overall, I like the pick. Coach Choate has really good ties with new Texas Defensive Coordinator, Pete Kwiatkowski, as he coached under him at Boise St and at The University of Washington.

After newly hired Texas Head Coach, Steve Sarkisian, took the job at Texas, he brought along two position coaches with him.  The first was longtime associate Kyle Flood, who was the offensive line coach with Sark for the Atlanta Falcon and occupied the same position at Alabama.  The other position coach to follow was Tight End and Special Teams Coordinator, Jeff Banks.

Sark only took 2 coaches.  Don't be mad Alabama...

In this episode, @NinosCorner discusses the comparisons between newly-retired NFL Quarterback, Philip Rivers and former Texas Longhorn Quarterback Sam Ehlinger.  The comparisons are not based on their talent.  It's more based upon their status within their respective organizations.  Both have some of the best individual statistics, if not the best, for their teams.  Rivers leads in every quarterback category in Charger history, and Ehlinger is second in every passing category to only Colt McCoy.  Both played great football; however, neither were able to produce any championships for their organizations.  Rivers never won a Super Bowl or AFC Championship.  Ehlinger was never able to bring Big XII Championship or CFP appearance to Texas.  In my opinion, their careers, from an expectation standpoint, parallel each other.  Let me know what you think.

In this episode, @NinosCorner discusses Texas' new Defensive Coordinator hire, Pete Kwiatkowski aka "Coach K."  Many may not know his name now; however, Coach K has been steadily building a reputation as being one of the best defensive minds in college football.  His defenses at Boise State and Washington were consistently top 15 units.  Let me know what you think of the Longhorn's new hire.

In this episode, @NinosCorner discusses new University of Texas head football coach, Steve Sarkisian's new Texas Coaching Staff.  Additionally, Nino recaps the College Football Playoff National Championship Game with Alabama vs Ohio State and discusses who from the Texas roster can fill into some of the roles Coach Sarkisian has in his potent offense.

The University of Texas fired Head Coach Tom Herman and replaced him with current Alabama Offensive Coordinator, Steve Sarkisian.  How do you all feel about the hire and the potential staff members he plans to bring with him?  @NinosCorner discusses this all during this episode.

In this episode, @NinosCorner breaks down the NinosCorner Number (NCN) for the offensive skill positions and discusses the outlook of these positions for the  2021 season.  Additionally, @NinosCorner breaks down the Longhorn's pursuit of former Ohio State head coach, Urban Meyer, and how that failed attempt of a coaching change may negatively affect the Texas program in the upcoming 2021 recruiting cycle.
