We discuss Autonomous Disaster Relief in the context of Hurricane Florence, with reference to Hurricane Sandy (2012) and Maria (2017), and a breakdown of the colonial-capitalist exploitation of Puerto Rico.

We explore a core topic of these news round-ups: Trump Resistance. We criticize the ruling class appropriation of resistance, and take a critical but open-minded look at the growth of social-democracy on the left in USA, with detailed reference to the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) and the candidates they've supported, like Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez in New York City.

We highlight ongoing examples of autonomous, grassroots resistance, including the Prison Strike, anti-fascist organizing, Occupy ICE actions, various teachers strikes, Indigenous Resistance to pipelines, and more.

This is a No Borders Media feature interview with two members of Rose City Antifa, one of the long-standing and active anti-fascist groups in North America.

Rose City, which is Portland, Oregon, has been the site of attempts at neo-Nazi and far-right organizing for decades. As recently as May 2017, two people were killed, and one other badly injured, in an attack by a white nationalist on light rail train in Portland.

Recently, Rose City Antifa has confronted the far-right Patriot Prayer protests, an umbrella for white nationalists and neo-Nazis to march and protest together.

This in-depth, feature interview goes into details about various strategic and tactical considerations for anti-fascist groups, based on the experiences of Rose City Antifa. We discuss responses to the hesitancy of liberal anti-racists to antifa tactics, as well as the distinctions between the various neo-Nazis and white nationalists who have organized more publicly in the past two years.

Rose City Antifa organizing is rooted in relentless research about far-right threats, direct action against those threats, but also building and maintaining political and cultural Left space. We discuss these topics in detail. This interview also addresses the controversial question of gun ownership in the USA from the point-of-view of anti-fascist organizing.

Some of the topics covered include the Nationwide Prison Strike, Trump Resistance, and opposing the racist far-right. Our conversation included blocking the Kinder Morgan Trans Mountain pipeline, a victory by disabled rights activists in Nova Scotia, the current Quebec elections, and resisting the Ford government in Ontario.

We talked about confronting various racists across the Canadian state, from Proud Boys in Halifax to Pegida in Toronto, La Meute in Quebec to Soliders of Odin in Edmonton and Nanaimo.

Internationally, we reference elections in Brazil and Sweden, as well as grassroots organizing by queer communities in India and elsewhere in former British colonies.

Our conversational detours include Colin Kaepernick and Nike, the "woke industrial complex", and locking the doors of the McCain funeral to start a long overdue war crimes tribunal.

The decision is an historic and meaningful victory for the mobilizing and organizing of queer communities in the Indian state.

For perspective on this important decision, and to look ahead, No Borders Media spoke with Ponni Arasu, a Tamil, queer, feminist activist, and a member of Voices Against 377.
