Stelly G is a Sydney-based Fijian artist and performancemaker, concerned with the decolonisation of the contemporary Pacific-diaspora experience. She presented her debut performance work "SA YADRA MAI NA MARAMA LAILAI?" in 2016 at St.O'Donnell's Select Gallery #003. She has since performed at the Australian Museum, the Sydney Opera House, Secret Garden Festival, Groovin the Moo and Harvest Festival; regularly performed at the Red Rattler; and been muse to popular street artist Askew. She has also been a regular collaborator with Black Birds. Most recently you may have seen her in our Housewives work, Our Visions Begin With Our Desires, as the rich and rambunctious Joanna. Joanna will be making another appearance in Our Visions Begin With Our Desires, chapter 2, as part of Sydney Fringe. Tickets are now on sale!!! Good evening! And welcome to Season 2 proper. My guest today is Cece Peters. Cece is an actor who entered the industry at 15 and went on to study at WAAPA. With a penchant for comedy she is now a regular in the Sydney theatre scene, as well as starring in Network 10's The Wrong Girl and Playing For Keeps. For 2 years now she's been living out of a van and travelling Australia with her dog, Haze. Showering under a roadside tap one day, having her face painted for The Logies the next, embracing the duality of her existence. Jamaica infuses the extension of her own vision of movement & culture into her work. I first met Jamaica in 2018 when I interviewed her for an FBi Radio editorial. It feels like so long ago, considering how much work Jamaica has done from then to now, but you'll hear in our korero (our chat) that Jamaica is an extremely hard worker and puts 110% into everything she does. But these protests and the past few weeks have brought a lot to the surface, including traumas and emotions that we may not have acknowledged before.So! Today I'm joined by clinical psychologist (and my mum) Georgia to chat about trauma and triggers. We discuss what they are, how they can present and how we can cope with triggers that appear in our day to day life. We also have a chat about intergenerational and the idea that the trauma that we live with is not necessarily our own. Zufi was born in Ethiopia and adopted to Australia at 5 months old. A few years later Zufi had a little brother, and then a few years after that another little brother. Also adopted, also from Ethiopia. Zufi calls her adoption story a 'happy' one and she tells us why in the episode. Her family's adoption experience and her belief that every child deserves a safe and permanent home led her to become an ambassador for Adopt Change Australia, which was founded by Deborah Lee Furness, an actor and director who is the parent of two adopted children with her husband, Hugh Jackman.Zufi is also an ambassador for Future Women which is a media platform that is a safe space to motivate women as we push for a gender equal world. On top of that - Zufi is an actor! Which is how we initially met each other, in a writer's room and has some exciting projects of her own underway. It's nice to be back with another great chat with a PHENOMENAL creative. Today's guest is the one and only Ntombi Moyo. Ntombi is a Melbourne-based stylist and creative director who specialises in fashion. Her work extends across both stills and digital platforms including fashion campaigns, music videos, branding shoots and model portfolios. Ntombi has worked with the likes of local artists like Sampa, Remi and Temgazi to name a few as well as international artists Rico Nasty, Jungle Pussy, Doja Cat. Plus! She's worked with brands like Adore Beauty, Puma and Asos (who took her to Afropunk last year!). Ntombi's style and eye for aesthetic details is unparalleled and she has such a strong and important presence in the creative scene. She also has an absolutely infectious laugh and the best energy - even through a computer screen. It was such a pleasure talking to Ntombi about her work, the importance of individuality and so much more. Together with her best friend/housemate Alicia Morgan, Emily hosts a podcast called 'Whose Pu$$y Is This?'. A lot of people presume their podcast is about sex because of the title, but it is more about reclaiming ownership of your character and your sexuality in a society that has oppressed women for centuries. Hence "Whose Pussy Is this?" (it's yours). Emily and Alicia challenge people to look introspectively at their past experiences, traumas, relationship patterns and behaviours to begin the process of healing. We talk about all of this in the episode as well as karmic cycles, toxic relationships and bad date stories and all I can say is, wow, I have so much admiration and respect for Emily and how open and honest she is with us and with herself. What a gift! So excited to be bringing you another conversation with an amazing Woman of Colour. Today I chat with actor and award winning, emerging playwright Kirsty Marillier. Kirsty and I first met yeaaaars ago when we were studying acting at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts. I still remember when Kirsty performed her monologue during O-Week and thinking, 'wow, that girl can do a great South African accent' - then I realised that Kirsty is South African. Kirsty is mixed race, coloured, and we talk about the history of that term in relationship to South Africa and her own personal search for identity.
