Noah Irvine is a teenager who lost his mother to suicide and his father to a prescription drug overdose. As a result of a classroom writing assignment, where he talked openly for the first time about losing both his parents to mental illness and addiction, Noah came up with two goals for changes in the way our government can support other people like his parents:
#1 Creation of a Secretariat for Mental Health and Addictions within the Prime Minister\'s Office
#2 Creation of Ministries of Mental Health and Addictions at the federal, provincial and territorial levels
Noah sent a letter to 338 Members of Parliament, and only 40 replied. So he went to the media. Eventually, Noah had a one-on-one meeting with the federal Minister of Health and a twenty-minute phone call with Prime Minister Trudeau.
