Chimamanda Adiche is a celebrated Nigerian author and public speaker. First coming to America in her young adult years, Chimamanda’s experience as a Black woman jumpstarted her involvement with feminist activism. Her writings and speeches highlight the need to educate the public on what equality means in connection to feminism. In addition, Chimamanda’s uses her life experiences as a grounding point for her feminist activism, discussing intersectionality and what it means for feminists across the globe. Emma Watson is most known for her acting roles in the Harry Potter series as well as Beauty and the Beast (2017), Emma Watson is also an active feminist. She made this public when she spoke at the HeForShe Campaign in 2014. Through this speech Emma hoped to gain support on ending gender inequality. Watson was also named the UN Women Goodwill Ambassador in 2014.With her participation in the UN Women sector, Emma has visited many underprivileged countries trying to demolish gender inequalities. Audre Lorde is a decorated author and poet, Lorde exuded feminism through her work. Originally involved in a heterosexual marriage with Edwin Rollins which gave her two children, Lorde decided that she would transform her life into being unapologetically herself. Lorde came out as Lesbian two years after her divorce found her lifetime partner Francis Clayton. Much of Lorde’s work contains themes surrounding black womanism and civil rights. Some of her most known work includes No Hierarchy of Oppression (1984) and The Cancer Journals (1980). Lorde wrote the latter while enduring breast cancer which ultimately claimed her life.
