It has been 6 months since I recorded Ep 11 and today, I catch-up with fellow art & design student Conan once more to find out if anything has changed in our lives and does it help to answer the big question in our minds; what is your calling? How do we navigate the road of being a non-talented creative and how does it relate to what we are passionate about. What is Passion anyway.
This is part 2 of my 2 part special episode where we navigate and try to understand what it means to have something you are passionate about. If you have yet to listen to the first part, you can tune in to "Ep 11: What is your calling? (The Lost Episode Special)"

In this episode, I sit down with fellow art & design student Conan to talk about the big question in the universe; what is your calling in life? How do you define 'passion' and what if you spent your whole life working towards something not meant for you? It is a heavy one so tune in as two young artists navigate their own lives in search of their calling.
Titled the lost episode special, there will be two parts to this topic. The first being an episode that was recorded at the start of the year but was never uploaded and left in the dark till a sudden jolt brought it into the light.

Through my years of growing into adulthood, I have seen many friends pursue their passion as a career choice but soon felt burn out or stuck in their jobs, expressing this idea of being restricted which got me thinking; can our creativity thrive working under somebody? Are we allowed to be creative without having to be our own bosses? Is freelancing the only path that we can undertake as a viable career to stimulate us creatively? Join me as I sit down with a friend, Kelvin Yap, who has been working in the design industry for 4 years as we try to understand what it means to have a career path in the creative field without freelancing. Hope on to the podcast and let me know your thoughts on this as well.

Happy 2021 !! After-thoughts:‘non-essential’ - is the art industry unimportant in Singapore?
In this episode, I sit down with Jocelyn Cheng, someone that shares a similar path that I took. But whilst I decided to make the jump to pursue an education in the arts, Jocelyn decided to do otherwise. How can we still take an active role in being part of the arts industry regardless of background and education? Tune in to find more as we discuss Jocelyn's journey into the arts, what it's like to be involved behind-the-scenes, and her love for music.
This is for the ones that aspire for a role in the arts industry, the ones who love the arts regardless, and an alternative look at the arts industry.

Tune in to this episode as we discuss his beginnings with "Death Threads", his own practice and works as a designer and artist, and what it means to be a designer.

You have heard me speak to friends that came from different past and their own journey into the arts. But there's still a person that you have yet to hear, and that is mine. In today's episode, to mark 1 month into doing this project of mine, I've decided to open up and share my own story and how I've eventually ended up pursuing an education and career in the arts and creative industry. I will be talking about what made me decide to forgo business and choose the arts, my time in an art school without a proper arts background, and the future of the Non-Essential Podcast.
This is for every one of you, who has supported this podcast, be it an episode, 10mins or all of them. This is my way of thanking all of you and the positive reception that I have received and hopefully, what I have to share about my own experience would spur you to do the same if you are ever in the same position as I was.

Prior to this episode, my few interactions with Marc Yap (@fanofmarc) was through his amazing works and a tutorial class on Adobe Illustrator. But I've learned a lot from my time speaking to him and understanding what we should do and be as a young creative. Join me in an insightful episode where we discuss more on his foray into the world of 3D Design, his love of comics, and a glimpse into the world of a young creative.
This is for those that would like to understand what it means to be a creative individual.
