Montverde, Florida, is a small tight-knit community approximately 36 miles west from the booming city of Orlando. During the 80s, the minuscule town boasted of having around just 400 residents. It was commonplace for residents to leave their doors unlocked at night without qualms. Everybody knew their neighbors and felt safe. The town is bordered by Lake Apopka on one side and on the other, thriving citrus groves. Unfortunately, however, in 1980 this lakeside town just off the Florida panhandle was the scene of a murder that would leave the residents more than unsettled.
Thera had been widowed two years prior, so in 1988 she lived alone in her home located at 806093 Oxford Road 29 (formally Lot 5 Concession 7), Blandford-Blenheim Township, RR 2, Innerkip, Ontario. She did her best to keep up with the house on her own. But she was often checked on by family, friends, and neighbors who were eager to give her a hand any chance they could.
I'm not sure if this fits but, its been 12 (nearly 13 now) years since she was last seen.
Cameron Remmer was born on 30 July 1982. He was the youngest of four siblings. He moved around from town to town in California, living in places such as Santa Barbara and Ventura.
His plan was to start a medical marijuana business. On 29 September he flew to San Fransisco with 60 to 70 packages of the drug. He also had $30,000 with him to buy more.
October 6th he called a friend asking him to pay for a room for Cameron to live in. The friend accepted, but Cameron told him to forget about it since he already found a place to live.
That was the last time anyone has heard from him. He stayed in the Fairmont hotel on Mason street. He left all of his luggage and person belongings, including the marijuana and $30,000 and never came to pick it up.
The Dardeen family met a truly disturbing end in their small town of Ina, Illinois in 1987. More than a decade later, a serial killer sitting on death row in Texas would claim he committed the crimes, along with more than 70 other slayings. Yet the truth of the Dardeens’ final moments remains as uncertain today as it was on the evening of November 18, 1987 when police first discovered their brutalized bodies.
