The eighth generation of gaming is coming to a close in a few short weeks, as the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X looms large over our wallets. What better time than now to look back at the generation that was and declare our personal Games of the Generation! Our picks are in no particular order and are not comprehensive. We simply wish to discuss those games that meant the most to us, and that we felt shook the industry the most this generation. We’ve got kind of a mash-up episode for you today, as we give our reviews of Christopher Nolan’s Tenet and Amazon’s hit show The Boys, which is in its second season.

We follow that up with a bunch of movie news, including the delay of the new Bond movie “No Time to Die”, a CGI Resident Evil movie from Netflix, a proposed Dr. Seuss Cinematic Universe (ugh), and Jamie Foxx returning as Electro in the next Tom Holland/Marvel Spider-Man movie.

As for gaming news, World of Warcraft: Shadowlands get’s delayed, a Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remaster is in the works, and Ubisoft’s battle royale Hyper Scape gets a reworking. Finally, we give our final thoughts on what we think of the PlayStation 5 vs Xbox Series X/S moving into the home stretch before launch.

Sony’s finally revealed the price and release date of the PlayStation 5. The gaming world exhales a collective sigh of relief, as the most unorthodox run up to a console launch in history continues to unfold. At least we know the players, when they’ll arrive, and for how much, but it’s still uncertain who has the edge in this newest console war. Sony came out swinging this time, showing off heavy hitters we know are coming like Spiderman: Miles Morales, Demon’s Souls, and Call of Duty, alongside massive reveals of Final Fantasy 16, God of War 2, and a Harry Potter RPG!

Nintendo was no slouch this week either, as they held a Nintendo Direct Mini aimed at showing off a bunch of their smaller third party partner games (two new Monster Hunter games and Ori and the Will of the Wisps aint bad)

But we can never have anything nice for too long, as Sony completely bungled the PS5 pre-order situation, while Microsoft clarified its own pre-order schedule.

Just two months before the rumored release dates for both Sony and Microsoft's next gen consoles, Microsoft has blinked first, revealing its cheaper Series S console to go alongside its beefier Series X flagship. Now that Xbox has shown its cards, will Sony's hand be a winning one? Or are they just bluffing?

While Sony and Microsoft battle it out, Nintendo is apparently silently looking into the 4K game themselves with what is rumored to be a new, more powerful version of the Nintendo Switch. Nintendo has already shown they dont need the best specs to sell a butt-ton of units, but they've gotta keep up at least somewhat with the power of these next gen consoles, right?

Sony announced a new PS5 showcase of their own, and we speculate on what they could be showing (hint: definitely pricing and release date for PS5).

Finally, Ubisoft held their second Forward event of the summer, and we have all the details (that WE care about, anyhow).

Movies. Are. Back.  

After many false starts and endless delays, it looks like AMC is gearing up to open its theaters later this month. To sweeten the deal, they're offering 15 cent tickets for a select few classics. But we wonder, is this really enough to help ease people back into their seats, or is going to the movies during our current pandemic too risky for most customers?  

With the recent disclaimer added to Gone with the Wind on HBO Max, we discuss what other movies could have similar disclaimers, and the conversations around their necessity in modern society.
