Welcome back to the Nonsexual Soulmates Book Club! This week we recap chapter 9 of Dr. Jordan Peterson's 12 Rules for Life.
(If this is your first time tuning in, don't fret, you can pick up anywhere without feeling left out).
Rule 9 "Assume that the person you are listening to might know something you don't".
We will be petitioning to have this plastered on every education and medical institution in the world. We also need to have it stamped on our own foreheads. Sometimes when you think you are the expert, it can be extremely tempting to tune the other person out. We explore reasons why listening from Dr. Peterson's suggested framework can build trust and can open us all to new opportunities for growth.
Thank you as always for listening and we will see you next Tuesday!

Here we are with another solid piece of insight from Dr. Jordan Peterson's 12 Rules for Life.
Chapter 8 / Rule 8: "Tell the truth- or, at least, don't lie."
Telling the truth can be hard. Sometimes telling a "little lie" or a "half truth" seems an easier solution, but how many times have you found yourself in more of a mess because of that so-called small indiscretion? In this chapter, we are reminded that lies are not merely spoken words, but they are rooted in beliefs that can shape our actions and will eventually bring about pain and poor outcomes. Telling the truth, acting in truth- it's hard. Where do I start? Well, start with not lying. You know what a lie is, it makes that twisty little nasty knot in your chest. Don't do those things and feel that tension begin to unfurl.
This is another weighty chapter and not always easy to implement, but the new year is always a good time to begin a new habit, so what do you say? Let's not lie together to kick off 2025!
Thank you for your continued support and we will see you next Tuesday!

THIS IS THE 100TH EPISODE OF THE NONSEXUAL SOULMATES PODCAST!!!
How appropriate then, that the rule of chapter 7 in Jordan Peterson's 12 Rules for Life, says the following:
"Pursue what is meaningful (not what is expedient)."
The irony really slapped us in the face- the endeavors that matter may take time, but they are better and far more rewarding than chasing down temporary highs.
Join us as we breakdown this chapter (which was admittedly long and a little difficult for our brains to comprehend in parts) and challenge ourselves to find our purpose and to pursue it for the long haul.
Thank you as always for listening and we will see you next Tuesday!

Are you making resolutions? What bad habits would you wish to bid farewell?
Thanks as always for listening, and we will see you next Tuesday (for our regularly scheduled programing of the Nonsexual Soulmates Book Club - 12 Rules for Life).

Welcome back for chapter 4 of the 12 Rules for Life by Dr. Jordan Peterson.
The rule this week reads:
"Compare yourself to who you were yesterday, not who someone else is today."
If you're anything like us, that required some re-reading so it could really sink in. This chapter also challenges us to view the success of others as a tool to learn what behaviors we can emulate in our own lives to achieve a desired outcome. Our biggest takeaway? If we want something in our lives to be different, we need to make a directed effort to DO something different. Wishing for change, talking about change, that might be the first step; however, until action is taken the outcome will remain the same.
Thank you as always for listening along. Feel free to grab a copy of his book (or audiobook) and read with us!

Welcome back to another episode of the Nonsexual Soulmates Book Club. This week we discuss Rule #3 for a better life:
"Make friends with people who want the best for you."
Even if you're not reading along with us, this chapter in particular has some pretty heavy-hitting quotes.
Our tip this week? Take a look at the relationships in your life and the affects they have on you. Are there some people with whom you need to create distance? Which people make you challenged and who is willing to celebrate wins with you?
Thanks as always for listening and we will see you next Tuesday!
P.S. It's not too late to buy the book and read along-- "12 Rules for Life" by Dr. Jordan B. Peterson.

Welcome to our book club breakdown of "The 12 Rules for Life" by Dr. Jordan Peterson. This week we review chapter 2 (Rule 2).
Chapter 2/Rule 2 felt like a big one. Kayla felt a little lost in the middle of the chapter and Kailey found new meaning to some of the Biblical stories from childhood. Join us as we review chaos vs. order and the Way between.
