Jimmy is experiencing an unprecedented heatwave in the UK, Boris is no longer the PM and the Martin family has attended a couple of concerts at Wembley Stadium. Kooly's planned Noosa trip was interrupted by a positive covid test so he travelled separately from his family, experiencing a few plane cancellations which resulted in having to celebrate his birthday a day late. A-league and Premier League soccer results are discussed (Fulham is back up!) as well as crowd/fan segregation and the neutral (neutered?) zone. Tommy and fam are preparing for his return to Australia which is bittersweet after 4 1/2 years in New York. What Gets Tommy's Goat this week revolves around finding which tv channel (or streaming service) the Yankees are playing on each night. Kooly's From the Archives recalls a camping trip with his school at Wilson's Promontory involving a nosey wombat. Congrats to Lleyton Hewitt being inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame. Jimmy finishes the podcast by indulging the listeners in another backyard fauna update.

In this week's episode Kooly's greeting takes a while for Jimmy to guess and turns out to be a common Indo-European language and not as obscure as expected. Jimmy laments his heartbreaking lost opportunity to watch his beloved Fulham live in the stadium for nearly 2 years thanks to a late scheduling change from saturday to friday. Kooly drops off mid-recording due to an unexpected computer virus update - how appropriate! The Ashes cricket tour is raised by Tommy and discussed - Australia definitely looking the favourites early on. A fact check on major league sports (thanks Mauls) turns into a mini quiz and it is confirmed by Jimmy that there were some teams in the past 20 years to win back to back championships as previously thought hadn't happened. Tommy is excited about his upcoming Buffalo road trip to see Bills v New York Jets in the final round of the NFL regular season. Jimmy is booked in for his Booster shot and Tommy already got his a few weeks earlier in an aptly named part of Queens. The upcoming Major League Soccer final between NYCFC and Portland is a hot topic. Jimmy has to leave early for his daughters Drama showcase and Kooly manages to reconnect just in time for the closing jingle. No WGTG or FTA this week but hopefully back very soon.

Boys manage to record two podcasts back to back for a change and it starts off with a clever greeting by Kooly. This leads to a conversation about Auslan and also celebrity dancing reality tv shows. Controversy in the MLB see the Dodgers advance and the Giants knocked out of the post season. NFL season is in full swing, Tommy's Buffalo Bills are looking good and there's even been some games played in Jimmy's neck of the woods at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The Caulfield Cup and Everest have just been run. Melbourne is back to school in seat but not without some hiccups for Kooly. News reports advise of a liquor shortage due to all the glass being used for vaccine vials. Petrol prices are high, Tommy sees a family of deer literally on his doorstep and Kooly's FTA recalls his 2005 Contiki tour shenanigans.

After a bit of a break, the boys are back and firing on all cylinders. Kooly's greeting is a stumper but with a few clues is finally guessed by Jimmy and this triggers a conversation about JRR Tolkein (with several Melbourne Demons themesong interruptions which seem to have been 'Jimmied' into the episode). Then we hear an update about Kooly's chooks and his recently oiled deck (Jimmy reminds us of a great related Youtube clip worth watching when you have time: https://youtu.be/tbazGVrbN-g ). His ankle is almost back to normal so Zoom karate has resumed and term three has just begun with in-class tuition back after a protracted lockdown/virtual experience. Melbourne having now set the record for the most days in lockdown globally also experienced an Earthquake just to make sure noone dropped their guard. Jimmy is still on cloud nine after Melbourne's first AFL grand final in 57 years and somehow located an old jersey which he's trying to determine the value of. There is mention of Degrassi Junior High and also some US Tennis Open anecdotes as well as a brief Olympics review, given so may sporting events since the previous podcast recording in July. Kooly describes his school's "battle of the bands" submission and we hope to share video of this via our socials very soon. Tommy discusses some interesting weather events in New York and in the "What gets Tommy's Goat?" segment, he unloads on New York restaurant Toilet signs for employees. Bronx bombers (ie NY Yankees) get a mention and also the fact that Tommy is about to venture into the Bronx for a Cross Country meet for his eldest boy at Van Cortlandt Park (where they also play social cricket incidentally). Kooly's FTA is another Stawell teenage tale which is etched in the memory of those who witnessed.

In this episode, we learn Tommy is in Florida on vacation while Kooly tells us about his Noosa holiday including a snap lockdown which interrupted and extended his stay. Jimmy is only online for about 10 mins due to other engagements but adds his usual quick wit and polished execution. Kooly's chooks finally started laying eggs, he mentions his karate injury and A-League final result. Tommy's home alarm goes off not once but twice while he is away which elicits some excitement. The FTA is co-led by Tommy and Kooly this week and recalls a 1995 New Years concert/camping in Halls Gap. Brief NHL, MLB and AFL updates are shared.

In this weeks episode, the Greeting is guessed again relatively quickly, being the 4th most spoken language globally. The fedora hat that Kooly is wearing is not just by coincidence, he's supporting a local restaurant and trying his best to spice up Saturday night dinner at home during Melbourne lockdown. The hat itself prompts discussion about hipsters which leads on to long beards and bushrangers as you'd expect. Jimmy's son could be on the road to 'hipster-dom' given his unique breakfast request. In New York it's Belmont Stakes day and although Tommy won't be attending in person, the weather is glorious so he intends on spending plenty of time in the pool and watching the races on TV instead. The boys have a conversation about some interesting advice for those attending the AFL in Adelaide and how they should duck and try to avoid contact with the football given the latest covid outbreak. Champions league soccer result gets a mention which also coincided with Memorial Day weekend for Tommy. Kooly is booked for his vaccine shot and Tommy's WGTG involves his landscapers once again! Jimmy had to leave early so no quiz, and Kooly's FTA recalls a memorable incident at the Glenferrie hotel after a good run on the pool table was ended prematurely when pouring one's own beers was frowned upon.
Editing gremlins are still making Kooly sound a second or two ahead (when traditionally he is a few sentences behind in most conversations - known as "doing a kooly"), so bear with us while we try and fix!

Conspiracy theories relating to the original source of the virus are discussed. Jimmy's quiz gets its theme from the hosting city of this years UEFA Champions League final. Tommy's WGTG relates to digital/online form submissions and Kooly's FTA harks back to an evening shopping trolley/cart incident in Balwyn.

This week, Kooly's greeting is easily guessed by Jimmy and leads onto a conversation about Algeria, soccer and Ramadan. Man City has finished the season top of the premier league soccer table and Melb City also will finish top and earn the "Premier's Plate" in the A-League. The global "City" franchise is discussed and we learn there are more teams than one might have guessed, on several continents. Jimmy's Melbourne Demons are also doing well in the AFL but just suffered their first loss prior to the recording of this podcast. Tommy is heading to his first Yankees game since 2019 on Tuesday against the Bluejays and has been informed he's now located in a vaccinated only section which complicates his plans due to a mate who's not yet had the jab. 12-15 year olds can now get vaccinated in New York so Tommy's boys are booked in. Jimmy informs us that the UK has opened up some travel and there are 12 international destinations now on the "green" list, but not all are your typical tourist hot spots. Tommy shares his road trip to the Preakness Stakes in Baltimore, Maryland and ticks off another couple of US states visited. Jimmy hosts the Eurovision 2021 (London calling) Quiz which is almost a nil-all draw. What Gets Tommy's Goat is poultry related and Kooly's FTA starts off as multiple choice before he decides actually he'd rather choose the toilet story.

Kooly's greeting should have been easier to guess as it was mentioned in last week's episode but both Jimmy and Tommy are slow off the mark today. This leads onto a discussion about Philip of Macedon and his son Alexander the Great. Tommy is opening his pool for the season and also got his first Covid Vaccine shot. Kooly has been at a play centre called "Chipmunks" and also bought some new chickens from Nar Nar Goon to replace one who'd laid its last egg. A Mammoth Ass is discussed as one was recently imported to Australia from the USA. The boys' favorite "Big" Tourist attractions in Australia  are covered. It's ANZAC weekend in Australia/New Zealand and the big Essendon v Collingwood clash is going ahead with 85% capacity at the MCG. What gets Tommy's Goat is about (overly) thorough landscapers. Jimmy's Quiz (JQ) centres on some recent sporting controversy and Kooly's From the Archives is about a family trip to QLD circa late 80s which also caused some controversy.

Back to back podcasts for two weeks in a row - the boys are back in business. Kooly's greeting is not in a modern language and Tommy prevails for a change with the correct guess. UK restrictions are easing as part of Boris' "cautious but irreversible" plan, allowing (amongst other things) haircuts and beers out so Jimmy is eagerly awaiting his next mop chop. Also, childrens' activities like swimming and drama are back on the cards meaning a tight deadline to this week's recording. Prince Philip's funeral is discussed and there are no exemptions for the royal family with a maximum 30 allowed in attendance - Jimmy graciously allows Harry to take his invite. Kooly updates us on his karate grading from the week before. The vaccine rollout is in full swing in the USA with Tommy's wife already receiving the J&J jab a couple of days before they "pause" it due to some adverse side effects reported. In the UK Jimmy will also be eligible imminently. What gets Tommy's Goat is focused on Pharmacy receipts, Jimmy's quiz is MLS (Major League Soccer) centric and Kooly's From the Archives recaps a much requested West Highland Way adventure he undertook with Jimmy several years ago.
