You can’t bake a loaf of bread with grape flour. But a growing number of other uses are being found for it.

It has to be used sparingly, but flour made from dried grape skins and seeds is both healthy and nutritious. And it’s starting to catch on.

Squeezing the juice out of wine grapes leaves a lot behind. Now, unexpected health benefits have been found in that remainder.

If red wine is good for your heart, that’s mostly due to a compound called resveratrol, which is found in the skins of red grape varietals. But new research suggests that powdered white grape skins may be even more beneficial.

Surf-driven erosion of coastal cliffs is gradually threatening some seaside homes in Sonoma County.

King Tides, El Nino, and sea level rise pose a triple threat to homes built too close to the edge of northern California’s seaside buffs. Some homes above Gleason’s Beach on the Sonoma Coast have been lost in years past, while others remain at risk.

Progress toward the creation of the SE Greenway in Santa Rosa is slow, but continuing.

Advocates for the creation of the Southeast Greenway, in the vacant strip of land running from Spring Lake Park to Farmer’s Lane in Santa Rosa, have been working on it for seven years now. But the most important steps in that conversion may come in the year ahead.
