Just as Joshua succeeded in his conquest of Canaan through courageous obedience to God's commands, believers share in Christ's triumph by relying on His perfect faithfulness rather than their own strength. Remembrance of God's past deliverances serves as a source of encouragement and courage in the ongoing struggle against spiritual enemies. Although Israel sinned by not seeking God's counsel when they made a covenant with Gibeon, God still heard their subsequent prayers and made the sun and moon stand still while they destroyed the Amorites - a day like no other.
