It's been a busy past 24 hours for the Pittsburgh Pirates but maybe not quite in the way most fans would have hoped for. First, the Pirates made their first MLB Free Agent move last night by signing 1B/DH Rowdy Tellez for a 1-year $3.2 million deal.

Secondly, almost right after the news broke that Rowdy signed, it was reported then confirmed that Endy Rodriguez underwent Tommy John Surgery to repair a torn UCL he injured while playing Winter Ball this offseason.

Lastly, the Pirates finally resolved their TV situation and have officially decided to fade the MLB pathway and instead have become joint owners of SportsNet Pittsburgh with the Pittsburgh Penguins. What exactly does this mean? Well, let's dissect it a bit.

Well, it was first reported by Dejan Kovacevic from DK Pittsburgh Sports and now confirmed by the Pirates that Endy Rodriguez had elbow surgery today to repair a torn UCL and will be out of baseball for all of 2024. Tonight, we grieve.

The Dodgers came away this past weekend winning the Shohei Ohtani sweepstakes by signing him to a 10-year $700 million contract. This now awards him with the largest contract in North America sports. Anything of this magnitude needs to be spoken of, and that's just what we do.

The Winter Meetings also wrapped up this past week, but that didn't stop teams from the NL Central to cease with their 2024 plans. The Reds signed Jeimer Candelario and it has also been reported that the Brewers are leaning towards keeping Corbin Burnes this year opposed to trading him. With essentially every other team in the NL Central looking to compete, what does that mean for the Pirates?

After we discussed the Kyle Gibson and Lance Lynn signing on our Starbucs show this Monday, the Cardinals went ahead and signed Sonny Gray to add to their rotation. Well, as the Pirates have still stayed pat we have now seen Luis Severino and Emilio Pagan get signed. The Cubs and Reds are reported to be in on a Shane Bieber trade with the Guardians. Dylan Cease trade market is heating up with a deal reportedly to potentially happen before the Winter Meetings. Are the Pirates asleep or are they cornering who they want?
